We are proud to have Ixil A'achimbal in our offering! This comes to us from a group of 80 families called the Ixil A'Achimbal Collective. During the 36 year long civil war that ravaged indigenous communities throughout Guatemala, they fled to safety hiding in the rugged mountains of western highlands. When the war ended in 1989, they returned to their village to find their land had been lost and was now controlled by the new government. After 5 years they were able to organize and purchase a very small parcel of land to begin farming on. In 2000 with the help of the Agros Foundation they were able to acquire new land and began to produce outstanding coffees that are meticulously prepared and helping greatly to restore stability to their community
